Director & Consultant Clinical Lead

Dr. Neil Kitchiner is responsible for the day to day running of the Veterans' NHS Wales, including service supervision and facilitating training of the veterans’ therapists (VTs). Neil is also responsible for the Cardiff and Vale UHB veterans’ hub, including assessment, signposting, offering brief psychological therapy, and follow-up appointments. Neil served as a Captain in the Army Reserve at 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital, Army Reserve Centre, Cardiff between 2011-2014. He deployed to Afghanistan Oct 13 - Jan 14 as part of the Tri-service Field Mental Health Team, OP HERRICK 19A.

Highly Specialised Practitioner Psychologist

Dr Gwen O’Connor offers five sessions per week (18 ¾ hrs). Gwen provides assessments, therapy, supervision and consultation clinics to individuals and teams.

Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Bhushan Vaidya provides two sessions per month (8 hrs) for second opinions, medication reviews with follow-up.

Veterans' Hub Secretary

Olivia Lloyd started with the Hub in 2023. As the Hub Secretary, Olivia is responsible for both the administration of the Cardiff and Vale branch of the service and liaising with the other administrators across Wales. Olivia is the first point of contact for the service and she is able to provide information to both veterans and other agencies. Olivia manages the online referrals, as well as referrals by post, e-mail and phone and she is able to direct them to the appropriate branch of the service.

Rachel Vanstone provides assessment and therapy clinics.

Veterans' Hub Assistant Psychologist

Laura Tipper joined the team in 2022 and supports with assessments and psychometrics. Laura is trained to provide brief therapeutic interventions under supervision. Laura is also responsible for analysing data and reporting outcomes; she regularly supports with research and service development.
